Making a Referenced Copy of an Icon

A referenced copy is a second icon that points at the same file rather than duplicating it. Opening either icon opens the one underlying file, and editing through one is seen through the other. On disk this is a symbolic link.

To make one, drag the icon with the middle button and choose "Link Here" from the menu that appears, or choose "Make a Reference" from the Selected menu.

A referenced icon is drawn with a small arrow badge so you can tell it from the original at a glance.
