Documentation / Contents - Toolchest
The task area is where minimized windows collect so you can bring them back. Today, minimizing a window leaves it as an icon on the desktop itself. The window manager owns that icon and parks it along a reserved screen edge if you have one set. This is the traditional Indigo Magic behavior.
Beyond the classic corner bar, the Toolchest is growing a set of dock styles, including a taskbar strip that runs the full width of a screen edge. In that shape the strip can act as the task area, gathering running and minimized windows into one row the way a taskbar does. These alternate shapes are still being built; the default remains the classic launcher bar described in this book.
