Documentation / Contents - Toolchest
The Toolchest sizes itself to its font and its entries; you do not drag it to resize. What you can change is how it is arranged.
By default the buttons stack vertically. You can lay them out in a horizontal row instead, from the Toolchest preferences or with a command-line switch. The window manager's own settings carry a matching orientation choice, so the whole desktop agrees.
The Toolchest shows a title above its buttons. When desks are in use, the title area shows the name of the current desk, so the Toolchest doubles as a reminder of where you are. You can hide the title if you prefer a bare bar.
The Toolchest can collapse to a single idle icon and expand when you reach for it, and its menu-bearing buttons can carry small decals. Both are optional and set to match the classic look by default.
See The Task Area for where running and put-away windows show.
