Documentation / Contents - Toolchest
The Toolchest is a stack of top-level buttons, each with a short title such as Desktop, Find, or System. Press a button to post its menu. An entry may run a program or open a further menu, which cascades out to the side.
Either mouse button posts a menu: the left button and the right button both work, matching the classic Toolchest. Once a menu is up you can walk it with the arrow keys, activate an entry with Enter, and dismiss it with Esc. Each title and entry has an underlined letter you can press to jump straight to it.
An entry whose program is not installed is shown greyed out rather than removed, so the shape of the menu stays honest about what is present and what is missing. Selecting a greyed entry does nothing.
See Launching Applications for what happens when you pick an entry that is live.
