What This Panel Does Not Do
This page exists so you do not go looking for controls that are not here. Some of these are out of scope on purpose; some are simply not built yet.
Out of Scope by Design
- Fonts. Typefaces are a desktop-wide setting, not a per-application or per-locale one. They live in a font scheme and are edited in the Font Scheme panel. See Fonts, Colours, and the Rest.
- Keyboard layout. Physical keyboard localization is not this panel's job.
- Developer environment. CC, PATH and the rest are yours to set.
- The system locale and the system timezone files. This panel is user scoped and never writes outside your home directory.
Not Built
- Number formats. The 1,234.56 on the sample line is a fixed example and is not reformatted for your locale.
- Date formats. There is no short or long date choice and no date order.
- Currency symbol or its placement. Only the three-letter code is recorded.
- First day of the week.
- Paper size.
- Measurement units.
- The LC_ category breakdown. There is one LC_ALL toggle and no LC_TIME, LC_NUMERIC or LC_MONETARY of their own.
- A list of installed locales. The Locale field is free text; nothing runs locale -a for you.
- C shell syntax for the exported block. The block is written with export, which a csh or tcsh startup file cannot use.
Known Rough Edges
- Export LC_ALL has no value field, so turning it on alone changes nothing. See Files and Settings.
- "Follow system timezone (informational)" is recorded and acted on by nothing.
- The sample clock uses the timezone the panel was started in, not the one selected in the list.
- "Write shell block..." and "Remove block..." carry three dots but open no dialog. They act immediately.
- Close exits without saving and without asking.
- Editing "Display name (city / region):" does not refresh the previews until you touch another control.
- Nothing else in Blueprint reads this configuration file yet. The settings are recorded and exported; no other panel consumes them today.
Also Missing
Buttons, toggles and tabs cannot be reached from the keyboard. See Command Line and Keys.
