The Configuration File

Everything this panel records lives in one file:

~/.cyanotype/cylocalize.conf

Set CYLOCALIZE_CONF to use a different path. The format is the house key-and-value form, with # for comments. Saving is a merge: keys the panel does not own, and your comments, survive untouched. An empty value is written as a single dash and reads back as empty.

The Keys

Keys with a control on screen:

locale the Locale (LANG) field
language the Language field
currency the Currency field
clock_ampm the 12-hour clock toggle, default off
timezone the Timezone (IANA) field, default UTC
tz_follow_system the Follow system timezone toggle, default off
location_name the Display name field, empty by default
env_export_lang Export LANG, default on
env_export_tz Export TZ, default on
env_export_lc_all Export LC_ALL, default off
shell_write_enable Allow shell updates, default off

Keys with no control on screen. These are the ones to edit by hand:

env_lang the value exported as LANG; kept equal to locale
env_tz the value exported as TZ; kept equal to timezone
env_lc_all the value exported as LC_ALL; EMPTY by default, and the
only way to give Export LC_ALL something to export
shell_rc_path the shell startup file to write; empty means detect it
shell_rc_backup take a backup before every write, default on

Environment Variables Read

CYLOCALIZE_CONF use this configuration file instead of the default
HOME where the configuration file and the rc file live
LANG seeds locale and language on a first run
TZ seeds timezone on a first run
SHELL picks which shell startup files are tried

Other Files

/usr/share/zoneinfo the zone list, or the next path that exists
<rc file>.cylocalize.bak.<time> a backup, one per write

A shipped example configuration, with every key commented out and its default shown, is installed as cylocalize.conf under the shared cylocalize directory. Copy it to your home directory if you would rather start from a file.
