Documentation / CyStar Text Editor
Options > Preferences, Key bindings. The radio applies immediately and drops a half-typed ^K or ^Q prefix.
Windows / Notepad is the default. Joe / WordStar is the full Joe subset below. In Notepad mode, the Notepad chords win. Joe chords that do not use those same keys still work.
Chord | Action Ctrl-A | Select all Ctrl-C | Copy Ctrl-X | Cut Ctrl-V | Paste (Primary or Clipboard, the Hotkey Paste pref) Ctrl-Z | Undo Ctrl-Y | Redo (this is not Joe delete-line) Ctrl-S | Save Ctrl-O | Open Ctrl-N | New tab Ctrl-F | Find Ctrl-H | Replace Ctrl-G | Go to line (not the keys face) Ctrl-Q | Quit Ctrl-Up | Spell suggestions (when Check Spelling is on) Alt-F4 | Quit
Help > Keys & Shortcuts still opens this face. ^G does not, in this map. Right-click a HighlightColor mark for the same suggestion list.
These do not overlap the Notepad list. Save and quit are in this set on purpose.
Chord | Action ^K B / ^K K | Block begin / end ^K C / ^K M / ^K Y | Block copy / move / delete ^K W | Write block to a file ^K / | Filter block (or the whole file) through a shell ^K T | Rectangular blocks on or off ^K , / ^K . | Outdent / indent block ^K A | Center line ^K J | Reflow block or paragraph (real newlines) ^K D / ^K S | Save ^K X | Save and exit ^K Q | Quit (prompt if dirty) ^K E | Open another file ^K R | Insert a file at the caret ^K F | Find ^K L | Go to line ^K U / ^K V | Beginning / end of file (not undo) ^K [ / ^K ] | Macro record / stop ^K 0-9 | Play that macro slot ^L / ^R | Find next / previous ^U | Undo ^^ | Redo (Control-6) ^E | End of line ^W / ^O / ^J | Delete word right / word left / to end of line ^T | Preferences Esc Y | Yank the kill ring (not Ctrl-V) Esc B / Esc K | Goto block begin / end Esc o | Delete to beginning of line Esc j | Reflow the paragraph at the caret Esc @ | Clear marks Esc Esc | Set the next bookmark (this process only) Esc 0-9 | Goto that bookmark
Everything in the Joe table above, plus the chords Notepad mode takes away:
Chord | Action ^A / ^F | Word left / word right ^C | Cancel block marks ^Y | Delete line to the kill ring ^O | Delete word left (Notepad mode uses Ctrl-O to open) ^Q | Prefix, not quit. ^Q F find, ^Q A replace, ^Q I goto line, ^Q S / ^Q D beginning / end of line ^G | This keys face Ctrl+Shift+A | Select all (plain Ctrl-A is word left)
Ctrl-Q does not quit in this mode. ^K Q and ^K X do.
Left drag selects. Right-click is Cut, Copy, and Paste. Paste on that menu follows Hotkey Paste (Primary or Clipboard). Middle button pastes the primary selection. With rectangular blocks on, a drag is a column.
File, Edit, Search, Options, View, Window, and Help. Help is right-justified. There is no Block menu. Block work is the ^K chords in both maps.
