Opening and saving

File > Open, Save, and Save As write plain text. Newlines are preserved when the file is re-saved. Untitled buffers have no path until Save As.

Closing a dirty buffer, or quitting with one, asks Save, Discard, or Cancel. The question names the document.

File > Recents is the recent-path list (default 10). Clear Recents is on that submenu. The length is an Options > Preferences control. The list is ~/.cyanotype/cystar-recents.

-r, -rdonly, --rdonly, or --readonly opens the buffer read-only. You can move and copy. Typing, cut, paste, and save do not run. Writing a block out with ^K W is still allowed. The title and status show RO.

Several documents

File > New > New Tab adds a buffer in this window (12 at most). File > New > New Window starts another cystar process. The Window menu lists the tabs in this process.

Recovery copies

By default CyStar writes a recovery sibling every ten minutes while the buffer is dirty:

.<basename>.cystar-recover

in the same directory as the file. Untitled recovery files live under ~/.cyanotype/recover/.

When you open a file and a newer recovery sibling exists, CyStar offers Restore, Discard recovery, or Cancel. A clean Save removes the sibling.

Turn recovery off or change the interval in Options > Preferences.

Not saved for you

Bookmarks are not written out. Macro slots are, under ~/.cyanotype/cystar/macros/. There is no print command.
