Documentation / Contents - Desks
Every menu item that has a keyboard shortcut shows it on the right of the menu, and the shortcut runs the same action from anywhere in the window. The underlined letter in a menu name is its mnemonic: hold the menu open and press that letter to pick the item.
Hide Menubar Ctrl+H Exit Ctrl+Q
New Desk Ctrl+N Copy Selected Ctrl+C (not live yet) Rename Selected Ctrl+R Goto Selected Ctrl+O Delete Selected (no shortcut)
Delete has no one-key shortcut on purpose: removing a desk is destructive, so it is left to the menu where you cannot trip over it.
The Window menu acts on the miniature window you have selected in the map.
List All... Ctrl+L Restore All Shift+Ctrl+M Minimize All Ctrl+M Remove from Desk Ctrl+D Add to Global Ctrl+G Minimize Ctrl+E Restore Shift+Ctrl+E Raise (no shortcut) Lower (no shortcut)
The whole Window menu is present but not yet live. The items are greyed and these accelerators do nothing, because an accelerator on an insensitive item does not fire. See The Menus.
Click for Help Shift+F1 (not live yet)
Click for Help would turn the pointer into a question mark so that the next thing you click explains itself. It needs the help viewer's widget-path resolver, which is not built yet.
Button 1 on a cell Switch to that desk Button 1 on a miniature Switch to that desk Button 1 drag a miniature Move it to another desk Button 1 double-click Switch to that desk Button 1 on a scroll arrow Slide the visible desks Button 3 anywhere The four menus, as a popup
See Moving Windows Between Desks for why a single click and a drag start the same way.
Switching desks and sending windows to them does not need this window at all. The window manager binds those directly:
Ctrl+Alt+Right Next desktop Ctrl+Alt+Left Previous desktop Ctrl+Alt+s Toggle sticky window Super+1 .. Super+0 Go to desktop 1 to 10 Alt+1 .. Alt+0 The same, second set Super+Shift+1 .. 0 Send window to desk 1 to 10
Those are the stock chords and every one of them can be rebound in the Menu & Shortcuts editor. See the MenuShortcuts book, from Help Books in the Contents pane .
See Overview of the Desks Overview to start over, or Size, Orientation, and Labels for the presentation choices.
