Using CyTinyMon

CyTinyMon is off until you turn it on. The tray stays empty while enabled is off, so a stock session does not grow a dark pair of lamps by surprise.

Enable The Monitor

1. Open Link Monitor Preferences (cytinymon-prefs), from the session menu or Toolchest. 2. Turn Enable on. 3. Set LAN and WAN addresses if the first-run discover blanks are wrong. 4. Apply. That writes ~/.cyanotype/cytinymon.conf and tells a running cytinymon to reload (_CY_TINYMON_RELOAD).

If the monitor is not running yet, start cytinymon from the menu or your session startup after Enable is on. With enabled off, cytinymon exits cleanly so the tray stays clear.

What The Lamps Mean

A move to down fires a short CyOSD banner ("LAN down", and so on). Up transitions stay quiet.

Preferences Panel

cytinymon-prefs is the only prefs face. Controls Apply writes:

First run with no conf may pre-fill LAN from the default gateway and WAN from a public hop via linkprobe.sh --discover. Replace either address any time. Only one prefs panel runs per screen; a second launch replaces the first.

Tray Host

The icon docks into whatever owns _NET_SYSTEM_TRAY_S<n>: CyChest's tray, Cinnamon's tray, Fluxbox, and similar. CyTinyMon does not own the tray selection and does not open CyNetwork.

Conf By Hand

Prefer the prefs panel. If you edit ~/.cyanotype/cytinymon.conf yourself, use "key value" lines, never a bare key with no value. To clear lan_address or wan_address, delete the line. Override path: $CYTINYMON_CONF.
