Using CyLogout

Documentation / CyLogout

Using CyLogout

Treat CyLogout as a compatibility name, not as the product. Menus, the chest, and scripts that still say cylogout get the CySplash end-session panel (or --logout-now) after a one-line deprecation notice on stderr.

Prefer CySplash

Day to day, call CySplash directly:

cysplash --end-session-panel
cysplash --logout-now
cysplash --check-logout

Default cywm chord Control+Alt+Delete already runs the end-session panel via session.end_session_panel. How buttons grey, how Logout talks to cywm, and the preview/dry-run forms are documented in the CySplash book (Using and Command Line topics).

When The Shim Still Shows Up

All of those still work. They exec cysplash; they do not open a separate Motif dialog. If exec fails (cysplash not on PATH), the shim exits 127 and prints the preferred commands.
