Using CyCalc

Using CyCalc

Open CyCalc from the Applications page, the toolchest, or:

cycalc
cycalc --face=science

The window stays the size it opens at. Pick the face that matches the work; switch later from the menus if you need another.

Which Face

Finance and Science share the RPN engine. Angle mode (deg / rad / grad) and FIX digit count are preferences, not separate faces. Some shifted legends on the mat may still report "Not implemented" until later milestones; the implemented set is what --selftest and --list-ops cover.

Keyboard And Mouse

Digits, decimal, and the four operations work from the keyboard. Enter pushes the stack (RPN faces). Backspace clears X (CLX). Esc clears an f/g prefix or an error state. Mouse clicks drive the on-screen key mat. Gold f and blue g arm the shift layers; those colours stay fixed and are not recoloured by the desktop scheme.

Preferences

cycalc --prefs

Opens Preferences at launch. Colour mode and FIX digits are stored in ~/.cyanotype/cycalc.conf. Face choice from --face opens that face for the session; lasting face preference follows the conf when you set it in the UI.

Headless Checks

When you want the engine without the window -- scripts, golden vectors from manuals, or a quick sanity check:

cycalc --eval '300 ENTER 14 %'
cycalc --eval '90 SIN' --angle=deg --expect=1
cycalc --list-ops

--stack prints T/Z/Y/X after --eval. --batch runs name|tokens|expect vectors from a file. Details are in Command Line.
