The Cursor Page

Nine cursor styles and a size. This page is a Blueprint addition, aimed at making the pointer visible on a large screen. It is on the extended face only.

Style:

A grid of nine cells, three across and three down. Each cell shows a preview of the cursor drawn at a useful size, with the style name beside it.

Off the ordinary X cursor; no replacement
Chrome the default
Ice
Lava
Emerald
Copper
Sapphire
Obsidian
Jewel

Click either the name or the PICTURE to choose a style; both select it. The chosen cell is ringed.

Off has no artwork; its cell shows a crossed-out plate. Choosing it leaves the cursor entirely alone.

Cursor size

A slider. The readout reads "Auto" at the bottom of its travel and a pixel count everywhere else.

The sizes that actually ship are 48, 64, 96, 128 and 160 pixels, and the slider snaps to them. Dragging near the bottom of the travel returns to Auto rather than snapping up to 48, so you can always get back to Auto.

Auto is the factory setting. It lets the display decide.

What This Does and Does Not Cover

The style and size are applied through a cursor theme. Applications that ask X for a themed cursor get the one you chose.

A program that draws its own cursor, or that asks for a specific built-in cursor by name, keeps doing so. So a text field may still show its own I-beam at the ordinary size while the arrow is large and coloured. That is expected.

When It Takes Effect

Immediately, like the Trail page. No Apply needed.

Programs already running may keep the cursor they already asked for; new windows pick up the change.
