CyThrough

CyThrough publishes X11 applications from a Linux, BSD, or IRIX host and shows them as native windows on this desk. You pick an app from a catalog, it runs on the remote box, and its windows land next to your local Cy* apps, framed by this window manager.

The page most people need first is Setting Up. Day-to-day use is in Using CyThrough. Every flag is in Command Line.

What It Is

What It Is Not

The Three Programs

cythrough-prefs Motif launcher and settings (Connect, catalog, Running)
cythrough skinny viewer: decode tiles, blit, forward input
cythroughd personal daemon: auth, catalog, dummy-X or hardware-X

cythrough and cythroughd are CLI tools (no Motif). cythrough-prefs needs Blueprint Motif. Encryption is on by default. A knock secret is a passphrase (optional on a quiet LAN). Passwords in the address book are obfuscated, not stored in the clear.
