Files and Paths

All of these live under your home unless you override with CYTHROUGH_HOME or install prefixes. Modes matter: prefer 0600/0700 for secrets.

Client Conf

~/.cyanotype/cythrough.conf

Knock secret, address-book profiles (host, user, obfuscated password, per-server knock), and client standing options. Materialize and menus prefer --password-file / --knock-secret-file over embedding secrets in argv.

Daemon Conf

~/.cyanotype/cythroughd.conf

knock_secret, publish lines (the catalog the daemon serves), optional autostart on, and daemon standing options. Apps are publish lines here, not CLI flags. cythroughd --check-conf prints what it loaded.

Catalog Cache

~/.cyanotype/cythrough-catalogs/<host>.conf

Written when cythrough --list-apps succeeds. Lets the desk remember what a host last offered without a full session.

Desktop Launchers

Materialize On Desktop writes:

• A 0700 script on ~/Desktop (or $CYTHROUGH_DESKTOP)
• Secret files under ~/.cyanotype/ (0700)
• On Linux, a 0700 .desktop sidecar next to the script

Dummy-X seats register under /tmp/cythrough-fb.<pid>/ for adopt/reap. cythroughd --reap-orphans only sweeps this uid's leftover dummy Xvfb.

Share Install

Shipped icons, help, type rules, and Toolchest menu fragments install under PREFIX/share (and may overlay in ~/.cyanotype/share). The help book you are reading is CyThrough under share/cyhelp/.
