Documentation / CyPower
CyPower is the scoped restart and shut-down helper the Toolchest System > Restart System and Shut Down System rows run.

cyhelp --book CyPower --topic overview
The Applications page lists it as: Restart and shut down.
A menu row that calls bare shutdown(8) fails on a normal account, and a menu row must not lie about that. cypower exists so those two rows can tell the truth.
There is no system bus and no privileged daemon for this. Privilege is a doas or sudo rule scoped to exactly two commands (reboot and halt). It is not a general root shell wearing a power button.
cypower is not on your PATH until cyanotype.inst has installed that power grant and confirmed it is live. While the binary is absent, the Toolchest greys both Restart and Shut Down. That greying is the contract, not a bug. On IRIX, when SGI's sysadm runtask path is present, cypower uses those tasks and no doas/sudo rule is needed.
Interactive end-session (logout / cancel / optional power choices from the splash) is CySplash. CyPower is the privileged Toolchest path only.
