Using CyNetwork

Open the panel from the Toolchest or by running cynetwork. The default face is Monitor. Use the tab pager for Link and Configure.

Monitor draws real OS counters (IN/OUT meters and a traffic graph). Demo vs Live does not fake those numbers -- only where Apply may write.

Link shows carrier, speed, and duplex for the interfaces netprobe can see. It is status, not a place to build bonds or teams.

Demo Versus Live

Demo is the cold-start default (or pass --demo). Apply stages a tree under /tmp/cynetwork-<uid>/stage/ so you can inspect the plan. /etc is untouched.

Live (or --live) is for hosts where you actually want the files installed. Control must be on, privilege (doas/sudo for cynetwork-apply) must be available, and no conflicting manager may own the stack. Without those, Live greys out and you stay in Demo.

Configure And Apply

On Configure, pick an interface, edit Wi-Fi / addressing / DHCP the way the host already expects, then Apply:

Saved SSIDs and related catalog entries live under ~/.cyanotype/cynetwork/networks/. The host wpa_supplicant.conf remains system of record; Live merges surgically (wpa-intent.sh) and always backs up to *.cynetwork-bak.

Tray Status

--tray asks for a FreeDesktop tray icon (needs a tray host such as cychest). The icon reports link/SSID/address facts from the probe. Click raises the main window. It does not take over configuration.

When NetworkManager Owns The Box

CyNetwork detects that class of manager, complains, and hard-blocks Live host installs. Leave NM if you want it; use Demo and the tray for readout; or turn NM off and use host files with Live Apply.

Headless Wi-Fi On A Twin

For slab/wedge-style installs without Motif:

cynetwork --wpa-list
cynetwork --wpa-live --ssid MyNet
CYNETWORK_PSK='...' cynetwork --wpa-live --ssid MyNet --yes

Default --wpa-live is dry-run plus merge preview. --yes performs the install when passwordless doas/sudo can run cynetwork-apply. Prefer the env for the passphrase; --psk is visible in ps.
