The Menus

Six menus: File, Selected, View, Options, Default and Help. The accelerators below are those of the advanced face; see The Canonical Face for how the archival face differs.

File

Open... Ctrl+O read layout and state from a file
Save Ctrl+S write layout and state to a file
Save As... write it to a file you name
Revert back to factory settings
Exit Ctrl+Q quit

What is saved is LAYOUT and state: which strips are shown, the option toggles, the window position and the device pins. Gain, mute and rate are not saved; the hardware holds those.

A device pin read from a file takes effect at the next start, and the message line says so.

Selected

Acts on the selected strip.

Sample Rate Ctrl+R a submenu of seven rates
Input Source a submenu; reads Output Destination on an output
Group Sliders move left and right together; on by default
Make Default Input reads Make Default Output on an output
Preferences... the Device Preferences dialog

Sample Rate offers 8 kHz, 11.025 kHz, 16 kHz, 22.05 kHz, 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz. See the warning in Setting Levels.

View

Default Input show the default input strip
Default Output show the default output strip
<one per device> show that device's strip
Show Device List Ctrl+D

Options

Audio Queue Monitor not wired yet
Professional Mode Ctrl+P show the sync source on each strip
Decibel Scale display only, not yet the fader scale
Show Scrollbar Ctrl+B scroll the device area
Show Quick Help Ctrl+H the message line at the bottom

Professional Mode reveals the sync source line, which reads Internal.

Two entries here are honest about being incomplete. Audio Queue Monitor reports "not wired yet" and opens nothing. Decibel Scale sets a flag and says "display only"; the faders keep the 0 to 10 decade.

Default

Input a submenu of input devices
Output a submenu of output devices

Picking one makes it the default for that direction. With no devices in a direction the submenu holds one insensitive entry.

Product Information

This list is the IRIX panel's Help menu, kept verbatim. Any of the topic entries opens this book. Keys & Shortcuts is insensitive; its content is in Keys and the Command Line instead.

Click for Help does not yet arm a context-help mode; it prints a note to the message line.

Product Information opens the About box; see Dialogs.

The Button 3 Menu

Pressing button 3 on a strip selects it and posts a short menu:

Sample Rate
Group Sliders
Make Default
Preferences...

Its Sample Rate entry is greyed when that strip's Preferences have Sample Rate turned off.
