CySoundD

Desktop sound

CySoundD is the desktop sound daemon. Programs fire a named event at it, and it plays that event through the audio hardware the operating system has already opened. It does not replace the host mixer, and it does not install a second sound server. The daemon has no window of its own. The picture is Sound Preferences, which is the one panel for choosing schemes and events, shown at the size the program chooses.

CySound-fire is the small tool that sends those named events. Sound Preferences is where you choose which file belongs to which event.

Sound Preferences. The daemon itself has no window, so this panel is the face you see.
